Talad Noi
The old Talad Noi community has a long, proud history to match the 220 glorious years of Bangkok’s existence. Historical records show that at the same time the ground-breaking for the building of the capital began in 1782, the first settlers of Talad Noi were setting up homes where the community now stands, next to Yaowaraj Chinatown in Samphanthawong district. Originally an ethnic Chinese community, Talad Noi is the original home of some of the country’s most influential business clans, including the Sophonpanich, Chokewattana and Chearavanont families. As with most other parts of Bangkok, modernisation has changed much of its oldest community’s original appearance and atmosphere.
